World Community Montessori (WCM), an independent, non-profit Montessori school located in the Blue Ridge foothills of Bedford County, Virginia, is seeking a Lower Elementary guide for the 2025-26 school year.

For more than 40 years, WCM has provided a values-based education in a community setting where we focus our curriculum on nurturing values such as compassion, tolerance, and peace. Small class sizes and a unique natural environment foster a warm and caring learning community for approximately 20-30 students (primary through grade 12). WCM has a proven record of academic excellence and learning through service and practical life skills.

WCM's campus is located on 80 acres with nature trails, a lush stream valley, a pond, a large organic garden, rescue donkeys, and plenty of wildlife! Students and teachers are encouraged to explore and use the natural environment as a learning space. Students enjoy opportunities to be outdoors on our beautiful playgrounds, soccer field, and basketball court. Our teachers enjoy a supportive faculty community, well-equipped classrooms, and support for continuing education.

We are seeking passionate, dedicated educators to join our team. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree; Montessori Lower Elementary certification; teaching experience (preferably with a diverse group of students); enthusiasm for project-based learning; excellent communication skills; the ability to work in a team; a love for the outdoors; and a passion for working with children, fostering their personal and academic growth.

This is a 9-month full-time position beginning August 2025. We offer competitive pay. (Compensation is determined based on experience and capabilities.) WCM welcomes newly trained Montessori teachers. We will also consider candidates interested in obtaining their Montessori certification and will help sponsor their training. Professional development opportunities are also offered. An experienced Montessori AMI certified elementary guide is on-site for mentoring. Nearby housing is available as part of our compensation package.
