IMT Training in North Carolina with The Garden Montessori

We’re excited to welcome a new cohort in North Carolina for a blended approach to Montessori training beginning September 8th, 2026.

The academic year will be online asynchronous coursework, along with opportunities to meet and collaborate with instructors and other learners throughout the year.

Manuals are provided for every learner and our beautifully designed online prepared environment was built by Montessori educators with decades of Montessori wisdom and experience. A hands-on 100-120 hour residency in summer 2027 will take place in the Sandhills of North Carolina (about an hour south of Raleigh, 1.5 hours east of Charlotte).

We are very centrally and conveniently located for learners coming from all over the state of North Carolina, and into neighboring states as well.

We’re accepting applications on a rolling basis through September 2026. Once you submit your application, the instructor will reach out to schedule an advising meeting with you to talk through your goals and discuss the program with you.

Infant Toddler

Courtney Reed

Courtney has spent almost 11 years in a Montessori classroom teaching infants and toddlers. She holds her Infant-Toddler credential, which is both MACTE and IMC accredited, and she has used this to teach and to train Montessori guides around the world. Courtney is currently completing her bachelor's degree in Montessori Education at Sarasota University, continuing to train IMT students, and thrive in her role as lead guide of her own toddler environment.

Early Childhood

Megan Muniz-McAleavey

Megan is the kind of Montessori educator who can't stop learning. She holds a Bachelor's in Liberal Arts, a MACTE Lower Elementary Montessori Credential, an AMI Primary (3-6) Diploma, Orton-Gillingham training, and a M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning with a Concentration in Montessori Education. Over the past ten years, she's taught in both Elementary and Early Childhood classrooms and worked as a Montessori Instructional Coach, giving her a wide-angle view of child development across the Montessori continuum. That combination of hands-on classroom experience and deep training is what she brings to her work with adult learners.

Elementary I

Laura Sayles

Laura studied History of Art and Film/Video Production at Massachusetts College of Art & Design before finding her way to Montessori in 2013. She began working a support role in her local Montessori school that allowed her to experience the philosophy from toddler up through 9th grade, inspiring her to earn her AMS Montessori Elementary I & II Diploma from the Montessori Elementary Teacher Training Collaborative while actively taking on a co-lead role at the school. Laura continued the next eight years as a Lower Elementary Lead Teacher at The Montessori School of Raleigh, where she also mentored fellow teachers, served on the Educational Leadership Team, and helped guide the school through AMS accreditation. With additional training in Orton-Gillingham, Laura brings over a decade of experience and a deep commitment to supporting diverse learners to her work in Montessori teacher education.
